Most Anticipated YA Novels of 2021

Chain of Iron (The Last Hours, #2)

Release Date: 2nd March 2021
Author: Cassandra Clare
Summary

Cordelia Carstairs seems to have everything she ever wanted. She’s engaged to marry James Herondale, the boy she has loved since childhood. She has a new life in London with her best friend Lucie Herondale and James’s charming companions, the Merry Thieves. She is about to be reunited with her beloved father. And she bears the sword Cortana, a legendary hero’s blade.

But the truth is far grimmer. James and Cordelia’s marriage is a lie, arranged to save Cordelia’s reputation. James is in love with the mysterious Grace Blackthorn whose brother, Jesse, died years ago in a terrible accident. Cortana burns Cordelia’s hand when she touches it, while her father has grown bitter and angry. And a serial murderer is targeting the Shadowhunters of London, killing under cover of darkness, then vanishing without a trace.

Together with the Merry Thieves, Cordelia, James, and Lucie must follow the trail of the knife-wielding killer through the city’s most dangerous streets. All the while, each is keeping a shocking secret: Lucie, that she plans to raise Jesse from the dead; Cordelia, that she has sworn a dangerous oath of loyalty to a mysterious power; and James, that he is being drawn further each night into the dark web of his grandfather, the arch-demon Belial. And that he himself may be the killer they seek.

I have been waiting for this book for about 8 months now, and I have to wait 4 more months for this book to arrive, and I cannot wait. I loved The Chain of Gold so much. I am a bit biased as this book has a main character that is Herondale and it's part of the shadowhunter chronicles. I mean I am definitely more biased since reading any shadowhunter books feels like returning home to a place where I don't have to deal with problems. I again have really high expectations, and I know Cassandra Clare is not gonna disappoint me.

A Court of Silver Flames (A Court of Thorns and Rosses, #4)

Release Date: 16th February 2021
Author: Sarah J. Mass
Summary: Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

This is one of the most anticipated books coming out in 2021, mainly because it's been 4 years since the last book in the story. This book, instead of following Feyre and Rhysland's story, we get the story of Cassian and Nesta. I am so thankful that Sarah J Mass decided to end Feyre and Rhys' story and gave them their happy ending. I kind of don't like Nesta so much, but I am hoping that when I read this book, my opinion will change.

The Black Volume of the Dead (The Eldest Curse, #3)

Release Date: Yet to be determined but will indeed be released in 2021
Author: Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu
Summary: There hasn't been given any summary or synopsis for the book as of now but we shadowhunter fandom hope badly that there will be more information about this book soon.

The Black Volume of the Dead will be the third and the final instalment in The Eldest Curse series. It is set to take place during The Wicked Powers, and I can't be more excited. This will be our first glimpse at The Wicked Powers universe. I am definitely ready to see more of Kit and Ty. This book, like the other two in the series, is named after powerful spell books, so what I am deducting from all the theory is that after Malcolm loses the possession of The Black Volume and it ends up in the Thule with Ash. Hoping that the whole TMI and TDA gang joins in this book will be so fun. I'm not worried to have high expectations from this book because Cassandra Clare always delivers up to my expectations.

Concrete Rose (The Hate You Give, #0)

Release Date: 12th January 2021
Author: Angie Thomas
Summary: If there’s one thing seventeen-year-old Maverick Carter knows, it’s that a real man takes care of his family. As the son of a former gang legend, Mav does that the only way he knows how: dealing for the King Lords. With this money, he can help his mom, who works two jobs while his dad’s in prison.

Life’s not perfect, but with a fly girlfriend and a cousin who always has his back, Mav’s got everything under control.\

Until that is, Maverick finds out he’s a father.
Suddenly he has a baby, Seven, who depends on him for everything. But it’s not so easy to sling dope, finish school, and raise a child. So when he’s offered the chance to go straight, he takes it. In a world where he’s expected to amount to nothing, maybe Mav can prove he’s different.

When King Lord blood runs through your veins, though, you can't just walk away. Loyalty, revenge, and responsibility threaten to tear Mav apart, especially after the brutal murder of a loved one. He’ll have to figure out for himself what it really means to be a man.

The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas was one of the most legendary books I've read. Its views and lessons were inspiring even. I have really high expectations from this book and mostly when I had high expectations from a book I've been disappointed,, but I'm hoping this one will be different.

Empire of Vampire (Empire of Vampire #1)

Release Date: 3rd September 2021
Author: Jay Kristoff
Summary

“From holy cup comes holy light.
The faithful handsets world aright.
And in the seven martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night.”

Twenty-seven years have passed since the last sunrise, and for almost three decades, the creatures of the night have walked the day without fear. Once, humanity fought bravely against the cold blood legions, but now, we exist only in a few scattered settlements—tiny sparks of light in a growing sea of darkness.

Gabriel de LeΓ³n is the last of the Silversaints, a holy order dedicated to defending realm and church, now utterly destroyed. Imprisoned for the murder of the vampiric king, Gabriel is charged with telling the story of his life.

His tale spans years, from his youth in the monastery of San Michon, to the forbidden love that spelt his undoing, and the betrayal that saw his order annihilated. Most importantly, Gabriel will tell the story of the Grail—the legendary cup prophesied to bring an end to the eternal night, whose location is known to a single person: A smart-mouthed teenage urchin named Dior.

Their journey with a band of unlikely allies would see Dior and Gabriel forge an unbreakable bond, and set the broken paragon on the road to redemption.

But now, the Grail is shattered. And with the cup of the Redeemer destroyed and the last Silversaint awaiting execution, what can bring an end to this undying empire?

One of my friends suggested the author Jay Kristoff to me, and I haven't read any of his books, but the summary got me hooked. Most of the vampire books I've read till now have been kind of a big disappointment, so I really hope this one isn't. And I really hope this book isn't a copy of Twilight or The Vampire Diaries. This book will be released in the second half of 2021 as the first book in the series.
