RATINGS - ☆☆.5

 TROPES -

  • Enemies to Lovers
  • Billionaire Romance
SYNOPSIS

She’s the wife he never wanted…and the weakness he never saw coming.

Ruthless. Meticulous. Arrogant.

Dante Russo thrives on control, both personally and professionally.

The billionaire CEO never planned to marry—
until the threat of blackmail forces him into an engagement with a woman he barely knows.

Vivian Lau, jewelry heiress and daughter of his newest enemy.

It doesn’t matter how beautiful or charming she is. He'll do everything in his power to destroy the evidence and their betrothal.

There’s only one problem: now that he has her...he can't bring himself to let her go.

***
Elegant. Ambitious. Well-mannered.

Vivian Lau is the perfect daughter and her family’s ticket into the highest echelons of high society.

Marrying a blue-blooded Russo means opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to her new-money family.

While the rude, elusive Dante isn't her idea of a dream partner, she agrees to their arranged marriage out of duty.

Craving his touch was never part of the plan.

Neither was the worst thing she could possibly do: fall in love with her future husband.

MY REVIEW

I always love reading Ana Huang’s book, and King of Wrath was one of my most anticipated reads of this month. I absolutely loved the tropes of this book and how cute some teaser scenes were. But instead, I received disappointment wrapped in more disappointment wrapped in even more disappointment.

It was, in general, a nice book (nice in a way that no one likes) and some scenes were, I think, filled with chemistry, but is King of Wrath the best arrange marriage book I’ve read? Nope. Also, this book wasn’t even technically arrange marriage. It was just arranged engagement.

I liked Vivian’s character and how it was portrayed and had some life and flaws to her and how she stood up for herself in the end. Dante’s character, though. I have a lot to say about him. He was a very basic character that all romance readers love, with that rude billionaire CEO with a lot of power and all that. But I'm honestly very tired of that. Ana Huang wrote Alex Volkov once and decided to make every other billionaire character she ever writes based on him. Dante had no personality except for the fact that he was a billionaire and he was rude, and I hated it. Like genuinely despised it.

The plot was again almost non-existent, and there wasn't one scene where I could go, "Oh I love it." All scenes were repeated and didn't have any originality. I really expected more from Ana Huang because I genuinely though Twisted Lies was one miss by her but no.

I do love Kai’s character a lot and can’t wait to see him in King of Pride with Isabella (let's hope AH doesn't ruin that) but overall, this book was another disappointment after Twisted Lies by Ana Huang for me.
