SYNOPSIS

World Ender meets Ender of Worlds...
A thousand years ago, Dianna gave up her life in the deserts of Erioa to save her dying sister. She called upon anyone who would listen, not expecting a monster far worse than any nightmare to answer. Now she does what Kaden asks, even if that means securing an ancient relic from the very creatures that hunt her.

A King thought long dead and long forgotten.
In the old world his name was Samkiel. In the new world it is Liam, but one title remains true throughout time. He is the World Ender, a myth to his enemies, a savior and King to those loyal to him. After the Gods War, he locked himself away, hiding from the world. He denied his crown and responsibilities, leaving the very ones who needed him most to deal with the fallout of the death of their homeworld. Now an attack on those he holds dear sends him back to the one realm he never wished to visit again and into the sights of an enemy he thought imprisoned eons ago.
Now enemies older than time must put aside their differences and work together in hopes of saving both their world and every realm in between.

MY REVIEW

First of all, I want to thank NetGalley for providing me with an eArc in exchange for an honest review.

The beginning of The Book of Azrael by Amber Nicole was really slow, as it is with most fantasy books. I do think there was a lot of filler content in the first few chapters, especially. But once you make it past those first few chapters, I swear it is good. I honestly lost interest a few times in the start due to so much world-building being thrown at me (I did not understand half of it) and so many theories about politics and war just bored me.

But once you actually get into the book and Liam and Dianne are actually introduced and we get to see their banter, I swear this book out of nowhere becomes 1000 times better. The chemistry between Liam and Dianna was so good. The way they hated each other in the start but then got to know each other’s true selves, and you could literally feel the moment they both fell for each other. They sort of reminded me of Rhys and Feyre from the ACOTAR series, but they weren’t as good.

Also, I don’t know if Kaden, the main villain, was actually meant to be hated because some rational part of my brain does realise that he is a bad person, and he did some really, really messed up things in the book. But I’m so irrational; that’s why I kind of like him πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜ . No, but really he is so bad that he is hot at this point. It’s an ongoing war between my brain and the rest of myself because he is supposed to be hated! I talked to the author Amber Nicole, and she did tell me that most people don’t hate Kaden and that for the second book, we will have a chapter in Kaden’s POV as well, which honestly makes me think that Kaden is not meant to be hated and will have a plotline of his own.

The book ends in a really, really big cliffhanger that just made me cry and want to read the second book right after, but we have to wait till 2023 for that. Me being impatient as hell, literally cannot wait for the next book, so I really hope u get an ARC of the second book too.
